GROM
- a special unit, which is known as the Operational
Manouevering Response Group (interchangeably: Mobile), was
officially formed on July 13th,
1990. It is organized according to the best American and
British patterns. In 1994, the soldiers of OMRG took part in
a mission of allied forces in Haiti, and also searched for
war criminals
in
the territories
of
the
former Yugoslavia.
GROM
is a unit which, depending on the needs, may carry out
typical
reconnaissance and diversion tasks.
Its members are also skilled at complicated rescue
operations aimed at rescuing hostages from the hands of
terrorists. They are ready among other things, to run
operations on the
sea
(on ships and oil well derricks) These operations
are among some of the most difficult.
They operate in teams consisting of four
persons. Every soldier is a professional
at
running special operations. They go through painstaking
parachuting and diving exercises.
Applicants
wishing
to serve in the
GROM
must pass psychological and
physical
tests and the so called
Test
of
Truth,
that is, a physically and psychically exhaustive site test,
where the weakest are eliminated. The soldiers of the
GROM
take part in joint training
exercises
with the best special units in the world.
Experts
in the field
put them in the same class as the
American Delta Force or British SAS.
